This is the valve that lets the gas in, and the float closes it to stop the flow of fuel into the carb. If you have a LOT of HP, the stock unit is likely too small (it's a 1.75), and you may need a 2.00 or 2.5, HUGE engines with IDAs use a 3.00.
Fuel control is more difficult the larger these get, so only get as big as you need, don't overdo it! If you have a centermount IDF with a lean condition, your needle and seat may be too small. Remember, the carb(s) are supplying the engine with fuel. A single carb has to have 2X the flow thru the needle and seat then if you have dual carbs, or the carbs can run dry until you let off the gas and they have the opportunity to re-fill.
