This kit SOLVES the problem of leaky heater box/muffler connections on upright and T-3 engines. One kit does BOTH heater boxes on one engine!
German kits help, but never solve this VW weakpoint. You remove your muffler, and cut off the raised lip on the end where it contacts the heater box. Slide the kit on, and weld or braze one side to the muffler, and one side to the heater box. The two pieces are bolted together and have a high temp gasket between them, so you can unbolt the two if needed.
